Assignment Seven: Photoshop

This photo was taking camping about a month ago with some friends. I made copy of the the original layer, desaturated the copied layer, and used a less "harsh" eraser to erase only the red sweatshirt I had on.

Assignment Seven: Photoshop

For this picture I made two layers of the same photo, used an effect to change the background and style of the copied layer and finally erased the layer to show the real photo of myself and the sky.

Reading Assignment #4

Second Life, what a phenomenon for virtual reality. People can live the life they always wanted to, but never could. In one of my classes we had a full days discussion about what kind of problems this alternate universe is causing some people and how some are finding new and inventive ways to make actual money by playing a "game". People can actually own property in Second Life and sell it to big wig companies, such as McDonalds or even Universities (where students can take REAL classes - for real life, their second life). Some husbands and wives are having affairs with the alter egos and its causing strains and problems in their real life marriages. The thing is with games like these, is they are only going to get my advanced and cause more problems or more benefits for the ones who know how to work the system. I'm excited and also nervous to see what the future will hold for virtual reality. I only hope we never get into a "Matrix" scenario and end up being plugged into to computers for the benefits of robots.

Reading Assignment #3

These cartoons show a very scary reality about the world wide web. Nobody can ever know for sure who they are talking to when in a chat room, or what kind of person they are buying something from. That is why it is so important to always be cautious when surfing the web or when chatting with someone across the internet and to always remember to keep all private information PRIVATE! Nobody should be asking you for anything that is personal to you, unless of course you actually know that is the person you are speaking to, even still, the internet is a scary place.

JCOM 2160: Reading #2

I can't believe the lack of privacy there is when using a search engine such as Google or Yahoo, I'm not surprised though. Search engines probably thrive on keeping user's history, so they can place ads according to their searches. I know whatever I've been searching about lately will always pop up in my email, tempting me to click on it. User beware though, don't try and search kill tactics, they may end up being your downfall!

It's amazing how big the internet is getting, so much so that phone companies are getting angry about the amount of use that is going through their cables. The internet is so cluttered and it seems to be endless and almost impossible to find a decent domain name anymore. I'm excited, and somewhat nervous, to see what the future holds for internet users.

Setting up my own domain has always been something I thought I should do. To many times I've had funny or good ideas and didn't have the chance to share them with people who might be interested. Blogging is a great way to do this, but having my own my brand, my own website, would be key. Before I graduate I plan to have a site setup with stories and ideas that I come up with. Some will be serious while others will intend to make someone laugh or hopefully brighten somebody's day.
