JCOM 2160 - Reading #1

Reading about the types of email etiquette really opened my eyes to a new light on the subject. I never realized there are so many different things to watch out for. I always knew to mind my manners and respect people, whether on or offline, but these lists take it far beyond my knowledge. From now on I will always be very cautious about what I send through email, I don't want any of my private information or my private conversations to be sent on to other people I don't even know. Reading the lists of etiquette also made me realize how much people break the rules. With social networking becoming such a big factor in the lives of millions of people, you really have to watch what you post on your Facebook or MySpace accounts. Just about anyone can log on and see the nasty things you are posting or saying about certain individuals, or groups of people. Potential bosses can look you up as well and see what kind of person you really are and how you really treat people when you think nobody is looking. I am glad I had the chance to read about the different kinds of etiquette, it was a real eye opener and gave me the chance to expand my knowledge on the subject.
